"Quilter's Connection, a new Canadian magazine featuring Canadian designers, was launched this fall. I was asked, by Heather McArthur, the editor and publisher, to design a pattern for the inaugural issue. The Tree Trimming Party was the result. The quilt measures 35" x 36" and features stitchery animals bringing their ornaments to decorate a tree. The line-drawings and thread charts are included with full instructions. Stitching is enjoyable, portable and economical. Each pattern has a lesson to be learned, from different stitches to different quilting techniques. The sizes vary from small (ornaments) to large wall hangings. There are beginner patterns and those for the more experienced. Included in each pattern are easy to trace full size line-drawings, thread charts, stitch illustrations and complete assembly instructions.

The line-drawing are designed to be traced onto the background fabric with a water-soluble pen.

Backstitch is the primary stitch used in all the patterns. Other stitches are French knot, satin, blanket and running stitch. Depending on the pattern, there are quilting techniques from bias binding, scrap borders, Ohio and Friendship Stars, half and quarter square triangles, mitered corners and many others. Detail in the line drawing can be achieved with different numbers of threads. Show your creativity and add beads or fill-in color with crayons.
